Named after the Whiskey Rebellion of 1794, which happened in and around our hometown of Bedford and featured several visits by President George Washington, Rebellion Books opened in June 2025 in a former antique store. The yellow brick house we now call home was originally built in 1897 and is one of approximately 50 independent bookstores located on the historic Lincoln Highway (US Route 30).

We provide a curated selection of new books for children and adults as well as games, puzzles, journals, and many unique gift items. If we don’t have what you need to help you develop your cozy, reading nook and get that just right reading vibe, please let us know!

Shop Our Inventory / Merchandise

All in stock items can be picked up in the store within about one hour once you submit your order, or they may be shipped to your home. Shipping will be calculated at checkout.

Looking for a book we don’t have in stock? Consider shopping through Bookshop.org. Our store will earn 30% of any sale you make through Bookshop.org when you select Rebellion Books as your store or use the link on our menu. Books will arrive at your door just as if you ordered from one of the big box stores and you are still supporting a local business.

  1. How do I order for delivery to the Omni Bedford Springs Resort?

    Select and add books to your cart using the shop function. When you are ready to check out be sure to use the Omni Resort address (2198 Sweet Root Rd. Bedford, PA 15522). Then you can click the down the arrow on the "Ship To" options and select "Local Delivery" Be sure you include the reservation name in the Delivery Instructions.

    NOTE: Orders received by 11 a.m. will be delivered to the front desk by 1 p.m. that day. Orders received after 11 a.m. will be delivered to the front desk the next day by 1 p.m.

  2. Can I have my event or book club meeting at your store?

    Yes! We love hosting book club meetings and other small events. We just opened our large back patio, so we are able to host groups as large as 50 outdoors or groups of 15 or smaller indoors. Please contact us to schedule using the form on the Visit Us page.

  3. Do you have author events?

    Yes! We have had multiple author events at the store this year and look forward to having more later this year! If you are a local author inquiring about an event, please read our submission guidelines and complete the submission form. We do not accept event solicitations via email or in store without the submitted form. 

  4. Do you ship merchandise?

    Yes, we will deliver in-stock merchandise within 3 mile radius of the store or we can ship to your home using USPS. Shipping costs are calculated at check-out.

  5. Do you sell gift cards?

    Yes, you can buy digital gift cards on our website and physical gift cards are available in store! You can also request a gift receipt when you purchase In stock merchandise in store!

  6. Are you hiring?

    We are always accepting applications from local readers who want to help us build a great reading community in Bedford and want to share their love of books with others. To apply, please send your resume to us using the form on the Visit Us page.

  7. Can I special order a book?

    Yes, to special order a book or reserve a copy to pick it up on its release day, just call the store at 814-310-2107 or send us an email. We'd be happy to order or hold your book!

  8. I am a local author, would you be interested in carrying my book?

Thank you so much for your interest in having your book in stock at Rebellion Books. If you’d like to have your book sold here, the first step is to come into the store in person if you haven’t already to see if you think your book would be a good fit. We are a small and carefully curated shop and would want to make sure your book would be successful on our shelves. After visiting, if you would like to proceed, please visit our author submission page and complete the process listed there.
