Author Submissions
Thank you so much for your interest in having your book in stock at Rebellion Books. The first step is to come into the store in person if you haven’t already to see if you think your book would be a good fit. We are a small and carefully curated shop and would want to make sure your book would be successful on our shelves.
After visiting, if you would like to proceed, please follow the process below. Please note that all in-store, phone calls, and email inquiries will be directed to this page and form. Please do not leave books in the store unsolicited.
1. Read all the information here in full, including the eligibility policy and consignment contract if you wish to pursue that route before filling out the submission form.
2. Fill out the submission form linked below with all the details requested.
As you may be aware, the number of self-published books has increased exponentially over the past few years. We are so excited for all the new authors, and we want to support all of you. We appreciate the difficulty of raising awareness about your book, and it is part of our mission to support local authors, but we can’t possibly carry books by every author who requests. At this time we are limiting eligibility to those authors and books who have a connection to our area. This means either 1) your book is set in or around Central PA, 2) the author lives in Central PA, or 3) the author has another connection to the store or the area.
We may make some very limited exceptions to the eligibility policy, but we do not stock books that do not align with our mission, do not fit in our classification system (they must have an ISBN), or do not meet quality and original content standards (no generative AI usage). All content must be original and not produced by generative AI. This includes both written content, illustrations, and cover art.
Procurement Process: Please DO NOT leave copies of books at the store for review. Rebellion Books is not responsible for any books left at the store that we have not agreed to review or sell. If we choose to procure or consign your book after you have submitted the form, we will contact you via email or phone. If we are consigning your book, we will track your sales and will report these to you and pay you monthly. We will initiate re-stocking orders as needed. Please note we are not able to purchase your books from Amazon. Amazon does not offer wholesale pricing to independent booksellers.
Sales and Marketing: If we are consigning your book you must sign the consignment contract, which means you agree to sell your book at the same retail price throughout all outlets, including copies you might sell yourself, and any online platforms such as amazon.com. Also, promotion of your book’s availability at Rebellion Books is important. If we choose to stock your book, we ask that you will use your social media and word of mouth to market your book being available at Rebellion Books.
Events: We may invite you to participate in an author event at the store individually or in collaboration with another author or authors. If you are willing to participate in an event, please indicate that on the form. Please do not contact us about doing a signing or talk without completing the submission form. Just as we work with publishers for events, we expect self-published authors to act in the same capacity for an event. Self-published authors are expected to assist with publicity and promotional materials for any event they agree to be a part of.
